Parish Organizations
The parish organizations listed below are happy to welcome new members. If you would like to volunteer your time and talent, please contact the parish office.
Christian Women
The Christian Women provide funding for multiple parish needs through fund raising. Opportunities to help include:
Scrip card program sales
Funeral Committee workers
Brat Fry workers
Bake Sales
Human Concerns
The Human Concerns committee raises funds for various needs in the community, including Santa Club, Food Pantry, homeless shelters, etc. They also organize and present annual educational events for the parish and larger community. Human Concerns hosts the community Sharing Table here at St. Catherine in months that have a fifth Tuesday. The committee meets the first Tuesday of each month.
Prayer and Worship
There are multiple opportunities available:
Acolyte (server at Mass)
Lector (reader at Mass)
Eucharistic Minister (distributes the Eucharist at Mass)
Cantor
Musician
Sacristan (replaces candles as needed; maintains holy water fonts; waters plants; decorates the church for liturgical seasons)
Shut In Ministry (takes communion to the homebound)
Usher
The following are not parish organizations, but they are Catholic organizations which meet at St. Catherine of Siena and are happy to welcome new members:
St. Vincent de Paul
SVDP is an international Catholic lay organization composed of local conferences. The Ripon conference meets monthly at St. Catherine of Siena. They help those in need with limited rent assistance, utility bills, temporary shelter, and other basic needs.
The Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's organization which helps Catholic men become better husbands, better fathers, and better men by deepening their relationship with God and putting their faith into action. They provide charitable support for Catholics in need and those in crisis. The Knights at St. Catherine help the priest in whatever way they can, including doing work at the rectory as needed. Council #4877 meets in the Knights' room on the first Tuesday of the month.
The following organization is interdenominational and welcomes new members:
Ripon Area Food Pantry
The food pantry is run out of the basement of the St. Catherine of Siena parish center. It is supported by multiple Christian churches in the area. Food is distributed weekly. Volunteers purchase items as needed through donated funds, stock donated items on the shelves, and put together boxes of food to be picked up by individuals and families who sign up for distribution.
